Our Review of
EPA's Home Buyer's and Seller's Guide to Radon
Reducing Radon in Water

This page is part of our series of reviews of Home Buyer's and Seller's Guide to Radon. The purpose of this series is to inform Lake Tahoe homeowners and buyers that by getting Radon detection and Radon mitigation, you can live more healthfully amidst the beauty of Lake Tahoe.

Since many Tahoe area wells have high Radon, it's helpful to learn about how a home's water supply can be treated to reduce exposure to Radon.

Point-of-entry Radon treatment...

Point-of-entry treatment can effectively remove Radon from the water before it enters your home, says the EPA. The devices enploy either granular activated carbon (GAC) filters or aeration devices. The Radon guide gives more information, but it's actually very limited in scope regarding Radon in water. Nevertheless, it is helpful to know such devices exist, so you can go looking for one if your water tests high in Radon.

Point-of-use Radon treatment...

Point-of-use treatment devices remove Radon from your water at the tap, but only treat a small portion of the water you use. These devices don't reduce the risk from breathing Radon released into the air from all water used in the home, such as when you are taking a shower.

This series is provided to inform about Radon at Lake Tahoe and beyond. On each page, you can view more by clicking on one of the navigation links below.
