This original song is music made in Tahoe by Lake Tahoe singer-songwriter Mary Kay Aufrance - inspired by performing Stephen Foster's music as part of Tahoe Choir. This music video features Mary Kay singing in the rose garden, a beautiful setting for her lovely contemporary folk song.
About The Note in Foster's Pocket
The tale of the final words of Stephen Foster is that he died alone, and upon finding him in his hotel room, a note was in his pocket. On the note, Foster had written the words "Dear friends and gentle hearts." So, music historians often ask if these words might have been the beginning of a song that Stephen Foster never had a chance to finish writing.
This song appears on the Aufrances' album Musical Dreams. Although the CD is a collectors item, you can stream and download the music on your favorite music site. Enjoy the music video on this page.
